
I Am Number Four Casts Kevin Durand and Callan McAuliffe
Just shortly after we reported that Glee’s Dianna Agron has signed on for director D.J. Caruso’s new film I am Number Four we have news of two more cast members signing on. FilmDrunk is reporting that Kevin Durand and Callan McAuliffe have joined the cast.
Durand will play “The Commander”, the bounty hunter who chases the nine aliens Number Four and Number Six to Earth from their alien planet. McAuliffe was said to play the role of Sam, who becomes Number Four’s best friend when he disguises himself as a high school student along with Six. There is a total of nine aliens that flee and we are still waiting on seven of them we are waiting on casting announcements for. Alex Pettyfer is playing Number Four, Teresa Palmer is playing Number Six, Sharlto Copely is a mentor to Four while Agron will play Four’s human girlfriend.
D.J. Caruso is directing the film from a script by Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Shooting was said to begin next month in Pittsburgh.
John Krasinski and Drew Barrymore Cast in Whales
John Krasinski and Drew Barrymore have joined director Ken Kwapis’ Whales, a fact-based film about the 1988 rescue of a trio of California gray whales that got trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circle. the project is set up at Universal Pictures.
According to Deadline, Krasinski will play a small town newspaper reporter who breaks the story while Barrymore will play a Greenpeace activist who turn the potential tragedy into an international story. The incident created a temporary Cold War thaw as President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev found a common cause…”save the whales.”
Rose Byrne Set for Untitled Kristen Wiig Comedy
Earlier this year there was a report that a new film was put in development from Kristen Wiig and that a release date was set for next summer. Now the cast is starting to come together as well with Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph and Chris O’Dowd joining the cast of the Untitled Kristen Wiig Project.
The story centers on Wiig’s character, a maid of honor who finds herself in a competition for the bride’s attention with a bridesmaid (Byrne). It was also said that O’Dowd has landed the male lead in the film, although it wasn’t quite clear what role Rudolph would be playing. Paul Feig is directing the film from a script written by Wiig and Annie Mumolo. Judd Apatow and Barry Mendel are producing the film.
