Drew Barrymore’s rep has squashed Us Weekly’s report that she has been out six times with TV wunderkind Cort Cass, who helps run ABC’s comedy division. According to the celeb glossy, he is “this skinny, 5-foot-6 redhead, but he’s perfected a whole persona – a manufactured confidence.”

We were drinking coffee/Us this morning when we spotted the Drew-Cort item nestled in their “Hot Stuff” section; intrigued as to the identity of this gingered gent who would replace Inappropriate TexterJustin Long, we Googled Cort and turned up a slew of links on his faux-mance with Drew. That is what happens when you become “romantically linked” to a famous A-list Hollywood actress who only dates other famous people. Now, Cort will be forever linked to Drew Barrymore. But maybe that’s part of his self-made “persona.” He just might be enjoying the attention.

The first link that pops up in a Cort Google-search is to Amazon, which lists his 2003 tome, Redhead Handbook: A fun and comprehensive guide to red hair and more. The author bio reads, “Cort Cass is originally from Pittsburgh, where he is the only redhead in his family. He graduated in June 2003 from Harvard, where he majored in Psychology and petitioned, (unsuccessfully) for a Redhead Studies program. Though he can be feisty at times, he is pretty laid-back for the most part. Just don’t ask him if he’s Irish.”

We won’t! All jokes aside, Cort seems quirky, fun and Beta male-ish – totally up Drew’s alley. Remember when she married Tom Green? And Justin Long is basically a redheaded person living in a lanky brown-haired guy’s body. Being a redhead is not just a haircolor. It is a state of mind.
